Young Inventor
I have always had a urge to innovate and develop
"new things".
|
When I was a kid my dad had this basement where he
would work on all kinds of do-it-yourself projects. Whenever I had the
opportunity, I would dive into this world and work alongside him.
But as I grew older I would start doing my own things,
not being content with the technology of Yesterday that my dad was
using. I was being drawn towards digital technology, and quickly began
developing small digital applications that would do simple things like
playing roulette with red LEDs running around in a circle.
As I started to learn more about this new technology,
my projects became bigger and bigger. In the end I was building small
computers and programming them using everything from Assembler to
Pascal. I was really very much the ultimate geek in those days - and it
was a ton of fun.
One of my passions was building enormously complex
lightshows for discothèques. In the end I created the ultimate digital
lightshow with millions of different combinations of light-settings.
With this lightshow I won a second price in the Danish final of a
European competition for young inventors and had the chance to get my
first experience with TV and newspapers.
Of course with this background, it was easy for me to
decide what I wanted to study.
Engineering was the obvious choice, and I chose to go
to the most prestigious engineering school in Denmark, the Technical
University of Denmark. You can read more about this here.
